What is
is an open-source server you own, with a desktop of its own. It runs on a computer at home or in the office, and everyone who uses it signs in from a browser, the desktop app or their phone.
A desktop you already know
Open your server's address and you get windows, a dock and a menu bar, much like the computer you're used to. Apps open in windows you can move, resize and snap to half the screen. Search is one Ctrl K away, and notifications wait behind the clock in the menu bar. Each person sets their own look in Settings › Appearance, and it follows them to every device they sign in on.
Apps that come with it
- Files: everyone's files, shared with the people and groups you choose, with a Trash and earlier versions.
- Photos: your photos and videos, by day, place and album.
- Mail: the accounts you already have, in one Inbox, kept on your server and quick to search.
- Calendar and Contacts: yours and the household's, on every phone.
- Browser: a web browser that runs on your server, with the same tabs on every device and trackers blocked.
- Genesis//ark: where you talk with your Sols.
The owner can also turn on Terminal, a shell on the server itself. You can add other apps too. Each one runs on its own and reaches only what you allow.
Sols, on your own server
Sols are the AI personas you talk to on . Everyone starts with Jethro, and adults can make their own. They run on the Aether Series models on your own server, so your conversations stay there. A graphics card makes them quicker, but they work without one. Children's accounts never get a Sol.
See What a Sol is and The Aether Series.
Private from the start
Your files, photos, calendars, contacts and the copy of your mail all stay on your server. There's no Solel cloud to copy anything to, and no crash reports, usage tracking or advertising. Privacy shows what leaves the server, and when.
is free and open source, under the GNU AGPL 3.0.
