Adding photos from your phone

You add photos from your phone much as you do from a computer: open Photos and pick what to send. This page walks through it.

Open Photos on your phone

Open your server in your phone's browser, or in the Solel app on an iPhone. See Get the apps for Mac, Windows, Linux and iPhone. To add photos while you're away from home, see Reach home when you're out.

Add photos

  1. Open Photos.
  2. Tap the + button at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Choose your photo library, then pick the photos and videos you want.
  4. Photos shows each one as it goes in. Keep Photos open until they're all in.

Each photo goes in a folder for the month it was taken. One that's already in your library is skipped and says Already in Photos. If one doesn't go in, tap Try again beside it.

To add photos straight into an album, open the album first, then tap +.

What Photos takes

Photos takes JPEG, HEIC, PNG, RAW, MP4 and MOV, so photos and videos straight from an iPhone or an Android phone work as they are.

Good to know

  • Photos adds what you choose. It doesn't send new photos from your phone by itself, so add new ones when you'd like them on your server.
  • Moving from Google Photos? Bring your whole library in at once from Settings › Moving in, with its dates and albums. See Moving in from Google, Apple or Microsoft.
