Snapshots
A snapshot is a way back to how Solel was. Snapshots are the first part of Settings › Backups and snapshots, under Go back to, so only admins and the owner see them.
A snapshot holds accounts, settings, routes, devices and activity, not apps' data or anyone's files. Snapshots live on the same drive as Solel, so they don't replace a backup.
Take a snapshot
- In Settings › Backups and snapshots, choose Take a snapshot.
- Give it a label if you like, such as Before changing the routes.
- Choose Take snapshot.
Solel also takes one by itself before every update, and before every restore.
Restore a snapshot
- Choose the snapshot on the timeline, then Restore.
- Enter your password and choose Restore.
Accounts, settings, routes and devices go back to how they were then. A snapshot of now is taken first, so you can undo this. Solel restarts, and the page reloads when it's back. If you signed in after the snapshot was taken, you sign in again.
If an update doesn't start properly, Solel goes back to the version before by itself and puts back the snapshot it took first. See Updates.
How they're kept
Solel keeps the newest 3. Older ones go by themselves, and when you take one more than that, the dialog says which goes to make room. Snapshots use up to a tenth of the disk; past that, the oldest go first. Each one stores only what changed since the others, so most are small.
To delete one, choose it on the timeline, then Delete…; the dialog says how much it frees. Settings › Storage suggests clearing out snapshots over a month old.
