Make your own Sol

Besides Jethro, you can have Sols you make yourself, and ready-made ones with live faces. This page covers making, adding and sharing them.

Who can make Sols

Adults can make their own Sols unless an admin turns off Adults can make their own Sols in the household rules. It's on to start with. When it's off, only admins make Sols, and the ready-made ones are only to look at.

Make a Sol

  1. Open Genesis//ark and choose Sols, then New Sol.
  2. Start: choose how to begin.
    • Describe it: say who you want in a sentence or two, and Jethro drafts the rest for you to check.
    • From a ready-made Sol: copy one and make it your own.
    • From scratch: pick Helper, Specialist or Companion and fill in every step yourself.
    • Import: a Sol file (.json) or a SOUL.md, up to 100 KB.
  3. Avatar: choose the face it wears. A face can be worn by more than one Sol.
  4. Personality: set its name, role, kind and mood at rest, and turn the six dials, like Brief to Chatty or Asks first to Takes the lead. Hear it say hello to check.
  5. Soul: write who it is, how it says hello, and up to 12 rules it keeps.
  6. Memory: choose how it uses your shared memory and household notes, and who can talk to it. See What Sols remember.
  7. Meet: check the summary and say hello in the trial chat, which nothing remembers. Choose Make.

Nothing is saved until then. Your new Sol's first chat opens straight after.

Add a ready-made Sol

  1. In Genesis//ark, choose Sols and scroll to Ready-made, with live faces.
  2. Filter by Helpers, Specialists, Companions or Creatures, or search.
  3. Choose Chat to start talking straight away, or Add to put it in your Sols.

The first time a ready-made Sol is picked, its face comes to your server first, which can take a moment. See Face packs.

Change, copy or remove a Sol

Open a Sol's page from its card in Sols, or from a chat's More menu. Changes save as you go.

  • Duplicate makes a copy with the same soul, personality and face, and an empty memory of its own.
  • Remove deletes the Sol, its chats and everything it remembers. If it's shared, everyone at home loses it too.

Share a Sol with the household

  1. Open the Sol's page.
  2. Set Who can talk to it to Everyone at home.

Everyone at home can then talk to it, and it keeps a separate memory for each person. Only you can change who it is. Guests and children never see it.
