Privacy

Settings › Privacy shows what apps can use, and when this server reaches outside your home. Everyone sees it. Your files, your conversations with your Sols and what they remember stay on this server.

Apps that reach far

Only apps allowed something that needs care are listed here, each with just those permissions: reaching the internet, changing or deleting your files or photos, sending mail from you, managing people or sign-in, reading the activity log, or changing your Sols. If no app can, the list says None. Choose an app to open its page and change what it may use.

All apps opens Settings › Apps, which lists everything each app may use.

Reached lately

Every place Solel has reached past your home since it last started, with how often, when it last did and whether it failed. The list keeps the latest 200 and stays up to date while the page is open. When a connection was made for one person, such as a calendar they subscribed to, where it went stays private. Apps with internet access reach out on their own, and aren't listed.

Why this server reaches out

  • Checking for updates: every six hours it asks GitHub for new releases. It sends which version it runs, nothing about you.
  • Certificates: when an address is added, Let's Encrypt (or ZeroSSL, if that fails) is asked for its HTTPS certificate.
  • Keeping addresses up to date: only if an admin set it up, Cloudflare is told this server's public address and checks certificates, using the token it was given.
  • The AI model: downloaded from Hugging Face once, when Jethro is set up. After that every Sol uses it here, with no internet.

On this server

  • Your picture: a photo you choose is kept without where or when it was taken. Everyone in the household can see it. It opens Your account.
  • What your Sols remember: you choose what each Sol keeps, and what they share, in Genesis//ark. See What Sols remember. This row shows for people who can talk to Sols.
  • Activity: sign-ins and changes, yours included, are recorded so admins can see who did what. What you open or say to Jethro isn't. Admins can open Settings › Activity from here.
