Talking with your Sols
Genesis//ark keeps every conversation with every Sol in one place. This page covers starting a chat, what a reply shows, and what you can do with it.
Find your way around
Genesis//ark has three parts, chosen at the top: Chats, Sols and Add-ons. Chats lists every conversation, newest first, group chats included. The search box finds chats by their words or a Sol's name. The gear by your name opens Genesis//ark's settings.
Start a chat
- Choose New chat, or pick a Sol's face under Your Sols.
- Type your message and send it.
New chat starts with your default Sol. To change that, set New chats start with to Last Sol or Ask me in Genesis//ark's settings.
To send a photo or file, use the attach button, or paste a picture into the message. Any file you upload is kept in the chat's Filespace, in your Files under Genesis ark, and pictures, videos, PDFs, Word documents and text files go with the message for the Sol to read. The Sol can find other files there itself. In a group chat only those kinds can go.
A chat opens with the Sol's live face beside it, or above it on a phone. Live face panel, in settings, turns it off.
While a Sol replies
A reply shows what the Sol thought, and the steps it took while Show tool steps is on in settings. Stop ends a reply early.
When a Sol needs your OK to do something, choose Allow once or Don't allow.
A Sol can ask you to choose before it goes on: up to five questions, one at a time, each with its suggestion already picked and a box for something else. Answer them, or choose Skip the questions to leave it to the Sol.
Under each reply
- Try again, on the latest reply, sends your message again. The answer it replaced stays to look back through while the chat is open.
- Branch from here copies the chat up to that reply, so you can carry on from there in a new chat.
- Read aloud says the reply in the Sol's voice.
Reply as me, by the message box, has the Sol write your next message the way you write. Change it and send it, or choose Another or Clear.
Rename, branch or delete a chat
The More menu at the top of a chat has Rename, Branch this chat, the Sol's settings and Delete. Deleting a chat removes everything said in it, but the Sol keeps what it remembered from it. See What Sols remember.
With Jethro
Your conversations with Jethro are the same in Genesis//ark and Jethro's window. In Jethro's window, Open in Genesis//ark opens the conversation you're in.
To bring more Sols into a chat, see Group chats. To talk out loud, see Calls.
