Install it on your own computer
runs on a computer that stays on: a spare PC, a mini PC or a small server. Installing it takes one command and a bit of waiting.
Before you start
You need:
- A computer running Linux, with a 64-bit Intel or AMD processor.
- About 20 GB of free space, and more as your files and photos grow.
- Root, or an account that can use sudo.
- The computer connected to your network.
A graphics card is optional. With one, Jethro answers sooner. What you need has the full list.
Install it
On the computer that will be your server, open a terminal.
Run this:
curl -fsSL https://solel.io/install | shWait while it sets up Docker if it isn't there, downloads , checks the download and starts it. The first run downloads a few GB, so it can take a while.
When it's done, it prints an address like
http://192.168.1.20:8080. Keep it handy.
To read the script before you run it, or to install somewhere other than /opt/solel, see Install with one line.
Open it
On a computer or phone on the same network, open the address the installer printed. asks you to make the owner account, which looks after the server. Your first sign-in walks you through it.
The AI model downloads the first time starts, so Jethro is ready a little after everything else.
If something goes wrong
The installer stops and says what it needs, such as a free port or Docker running. Sort that out and run the same line again. If a download stopped partway, running it again picks up where it left off. When it won't start has more to try.
